SYMPTOMS

When you download a new codec, you may receive the following error message:
A decompressor was downloaded for this file, but it didn't work. You may need to restart your player or browser. (Error=80040200)

CAUSE

This behavior can occur for either of the following reasons:
  • The codec you downloaded is faulty.
  • The codec was downloaded while an earlier version of the codec was still in memory.

RESOLUTION

Shut down and restart the computer so the new codec is loaded. If the problem persists, try downloading the codec again.
