SUMMARY

Some components in FrontPage 2000 require that the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions be installed on the server to which your Web is published. This article lists the components that require the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions.

FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions Components

The following components require FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions or later:
  • Nested subwebs
  • Lightweight Source Control (document check-in/check-out without Microsoft Visual SourceSafe for Windows)
  • Categories component
  • StyleSheet links to multiple files or Active Server Pages (ASP) files

FrontPage Server Extensions Components

Additionally, the following components require at least an earlier version of the FrontPage Server Extensions:
  • Confirmation field
  • Discussion form handler
  • FrontPage-created server-side image maps
  • Hit counter
  • Registration form handler
  • Save Results form handler
  • Search form

Troubleshooting

  • If you try to create a subweb in another subweb on a server that has FrontPage 98 or earlier server extensions, you receive the following error message:
    The version of the FrontPage Server Extensions installed on this web server does not support creating more than one level of sub webs.

    To upgrade to the latest version of the FrontPage Server Extensions, contact your Internet service provider or system administrator.
  • The Categories item on the Insert Component menu is unavailable if the server extensions are not FrontPage 2000 or later.
  • The Use document check-in and check-out option in Web Settings on the Tools menu is unavailable if the Server Extensions are not FrontPage 2000 or later.

Although the FrontPage Server Extensions can help you to create and publish database-enabled Web sites, the following FrontPage database components do not require the FrontPage Server Extensions:
  • Database Results Wizard
  • Send To Database Form Handler
