This article was previously published under Q232532 SUMMARY
When you are authoring pages in Microsoft FrontPage 2000, the Database Results Region only functions on Web servers that have Active Server Pages (ASP) and the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions installed, or on disk-based Webs. The Database command on the Insert menu in FrontPage is unavailable if the Web server that the page is opened from does not support Active Server Pages. MORE INFORMATION
If you are authoring on a Web server, the database features are available only if the following conditions are true:
Asp.exe is also available on the FrontPage 98 CD in the \60 Minute Intranet Kit\60 Minute Intranet Kit\Modules directory. Complete database functionality is only available if the Web server also has Microsoft Data Access Components 2.1 (MDAC), FrontPage 2000, or Office 2000 installed. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/dataaccess) Note MDAC 2.1 is also installed with the FrontPage client software or Office 2000.
If you are authoring a disk-based Web, the database features are available; however, they will not function until the Web is published to a Web server as previously described. If you have used the Page Options dialog box to clear the Active Server Pages check box, the Database menu item will not be available even if the Web server you are editing on can support it. The Database menu will not be available if your Web server is running Chili!ASP. Yet, browsing ASP pages is available.
