When you work with Navigation view in Microsoft FrontPage 2000, you cannot add child pages to any ASP page that participates in a navigation structure.

Microsoft FrontPage 2000 does not allow ASP files to be parent nodes in a navigation structure. However, you can make ASP pages child pages of HTM files.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: To work around this issue, temporarily rename your ASP files with an .htm file name extension, add them to the navigation structure, and then rename them so that they have an .asp file name extension again. To do so, follow these steps:

1.
2.	Switch to Folder view.
3.	Locate the ASP file or files to which you plan to add child nodes.
4.	Rename the page or pages with an .htm file name extension.
5.	Switch to Navigation view.
6.	Position the pages where you want them in Navigation view.
7.	After the navigation structure is complete, rename the pages so that they have an .asp file name extension again.

NOTE: If you need to make a change to the navigation structure--for example, move one ASP page to a different parent node--you must follow these steps again.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
