Article ID: 235519 - Last Review: November 1, 2006 - Revision: 1.5 Performance Monitor Chart Settings Not Read ProperlyThis article was previously published under Q235519 On This PageSYMPTOMS
After you save a Performance Monitor (Perfmon.exe) chart file (.pmc) and an associated data log file (.log) that includes Perfmon counters not found on the local computer, the data for the counters is not read correctly when these files are opened on another computer. For example, if logs and the pmc where taken from a computer with IIS installed, ASP counters would be present. If they were to be read with a computer that did not have IIS installed, then the ASP counters would show zero values.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Perfmon is incorrectly attempting to read counter data from the local computer's registry, rather than from the data log file.
