This article was previously published under Q235688

SYMPTOMS

A rule that tests for a large number of names (50 or more) from either the Personal Address Book (PAB), or the Global Address List (GAL), may not run for an item containing one of the names.

NOTE: This behavior is not exhibited if the names are from the Contacts folder.

RESOLUTION

Define multiple rules that contain fewer that 50 names each.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

A rule that tests for e-mail from a large number of names from the PAB or the GAL may not perform as expected. For example, if the rule is set to play a sound and to move the message to a folder, the sound may play but the message may not move.
