The Microsoft Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2 provides Windows 98 replacement files to correct known year 2000 and date rollover issues with the Windows 98 operating system. The Windows 98 Year 2000 Update that was released in December 1998, must be installed before you install the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2.

You may receive the following error message if you try to install the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2 before you install the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update:
You must install the first Windows 98 Year 2000 Update from Windows Update. Setup cannot continue.

To install the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2, download the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update from the Windows Update Site, or order the Windows 98 Customer Service Pack CD-ROM. The Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2 is available from the Windows Update Web site:

NOTE: If you have the Microsoft Windows Critical Update Notification utility installed, you may be prompted to install this update.

Also, you can receive the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update 2 files on CD-ROM when you order Windows 98 Customer Service Pack. To order the Windows 98 Customer Service Pack CD-ROM, call (800) 360-7561, or order it from the following Microsoft Web site:

The Windows 98 Customer Service Pack CD-ROM is supplied at no charge, but a nominal shipping and handling charge may be required.
