When you try to run Office Setup, you may receive one of the following error messages:
This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

This problem may occur if the locally cached Windows Installer package (.msi) file is damaged or corrupted.
To resolve this problem, use the following methods in the order presented.
METHOD 1: Update Windows InstallerDo one of the following.
If you already installed Office 2000
If you are trying to install Office 2000If Office 2000 is not yet installed on your computer, follow these steps:
