When you attempt to install Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4), Dr. Watson may start and you may receive an error message indicating that a fault occurred in Update.exe because of an in page I/O error (0xC0000006).
CAUSE
During the service pack upgrade, a copy error is encountered because of network problems. Update.exe attempts to page in the Setupapi.dll file from the location of the service pack files, but is unable to do so because of network problems.
RESOLUTIONWindows NT Server or Workstation 4.0To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0 or the individual software update. For information on obtaining the latest service pack, please go to:
