SYMPTOMS

On a Windows 2000-based server with Terminal Services enabled, Advanced Power Management (APM) features (including the Standby and Hibernate commands) are disabled. The only power management features that are available with Terminal Services enabled are the powering down of hard disks and monitors.

CAUSE

A Windows 2000-based server with Terminal Services enabled is considered to be a computer with high availability requirements. Features such as the Standby and Hibernate commands should not be used in this environment.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
