SUMMARY

Microsoft Technical Support does not support running the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 97 from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. The only supported method for running the PowerPoint Viewer is from a complete, local installation to the hard disk. By installing the PowerPoint Viewer, your presentation can make use of hyperlinks to external documents, and register the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Object Model for the PowerPoint Viewer.

MORE INFORMATION

In the past, Microsoft has posted unsupported methods for running the PowerPoint Viewer 97 from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. These methods have been removed from the Web.

If you want to run your PowerPoint presentation and the PowerPoint Viewer from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, Microsoft suggests that you look for third-party solutions on the Web.
