SYMPTOMS

When you use the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer to show a presentation that contains animated GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) images, the images do not appear animated.

CAUSE

The PowerPoint Viewer included with PowerPoint 2000 is restricted to the capabilities of PowerPoint 97. PowerPoint 97 does not have the capability to play back animated GIF images that you have inserted into a presentation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save the presentation as an interactive and animated Web-based presentation. Then, place this presentation on either a CD-ROM or other removable media and view it with Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later.

REFERENCES

For more information about saving as a Web presentation, click Microsoft PowerPoint Help on the Help menu, type how to save as a web page in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.
