SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 98 to Windows 98 Second Edition, you may receive the following error message:
Mprexe caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll at 0167:bff719d1

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when your computer has less than the minimum required memory (24 MB) to upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
  • Uninstall Windows 98 Second Edition.
  • Upgrade your computer to 24 MB (or more) of RAM.

MORE INFORMATION

In some cases, you can install and run Windows 98 Second Edition when your computer has less than the required 24 MB of RAM. However, you may receive random "invalid page fault" error messages and notice a decrease in system performance and speed.
