You are prompted to log on unexpectedly when you try to create a new record from a lookup form in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

Assume that you log on to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Web client on a computer on which you run some instances of Windows Internet Explorer. When you try to create a new record from a lookup form, you are prompted to log on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Web client again unexpectedly. This problem occurs when you run any of the following versions of Internet Explorer:

• Internet Explorer 6 
• Internet Explorer 7
• Internet Explorer 8, if the value of the following registry entry is set to zero: 
  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\TabProcGrowth

To enable this hotfix on the computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, follow these steps:

1. Under the
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM\
   registry subkey on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server, add the following DWORD registry entry:
   ChangeWindowOpener
2. Set the value of the registry entry that you just added to 1.

To enable this hotfix on a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook, follow these steps:

1. Under the
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient\
   registry subkey on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook, add the following DWORD registry entry :
   ChangeWindowOpener
2. Set the value of the registry entry that you just added to 1.
