SUMMARY

A white paper is now available on the Microsoft File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Web site that discusses troubleshooting and maintenance techniques for installing and running Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) version 1.0.

MORE INFORMATION

From the Introduction section of the white paper:

This white paper discusses troubleshooting and maintenance techniques for the first implementation of Microsoft(r) Cluster Server (MSCS) version 1.0. The initial phase of the product supports a maximum of two servers in a cluster, which are often referred to as nodes. Since there are so many different types of resources that may be managed within a cluster, it may be difficult at times for an administrator to determine what component or resource may be causing failures. In many cases, MSCS can automatically detect and recover from server or application failures. However, in some cases, it may be necessary to troubleshoot attached resources or applications.

This white paper covers such topics as preinstallation, installation problems, post-installation problems, administrative issues, troubleshooting shared SCSI bus, client connectivity problems, and maintenance. It is available as mscs.exe on the following Microsoft ftp Web site:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-docs/papers/ (ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/winnt/winnt-docs/papers/)

APPLIES TO
Microsoft Cluster Server 1.1
