Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in an Active Directory domain environment. You configure some Group Policy preference settings for the settings on the Advanced tab of Windows Internet Explorer 8. Then, you use Internet Explorer 8 on a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. In this scenario, you find that some of these settings are not set as expected on the client computer.

For example, you enabled all the Group Policy preference settings that are related to the Accessibility section on the Advanced tab of Internet Explorer 8. When you use Internet Explorer 8 on a client computer that is running Windows 7, you find that not all the check boxes in the Accessibility section are selected.

Note To view settings on the Advanced tab, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click Advanced.

For more information about how to configure Group Policy preference settings for Internet Explorer 8, see the "Configure Group Policy preference settings for Internet Explorer 8" section.

Cause

This issue occurs because the settings that are specified by the Group Police preference extension define some incorrect values to restrict Internet Explorer 8 behavior.
