SUMMARY

This article describes where to locate Outlook for Mac 2011 and whether 2011 installs Entourage.

MORE INFORMATION

I have installed Home and Student. Where is Outlook?

Both Office for Mac Home and Business 2011 and Office for Mac Home and Student includes a new email client, Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011. If you have Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 installed, Outlook is located in Applications folder. However, although Office for Mac Home and Student installs Outlook, the application will run in a trial mode only (30 days trial). After the trial expires, you will need to upgrade to Office for Mac Home and Business 2011 if you want to continue to use Outlook for Mac 2011. For more information on how to upgrade to Office for Mac Home and Business 2011 version, see the following Knowledge Base article:

Does Office for Mac 2011 include Entourage?

Microsoft Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 does not include Microsoft Entourage. If you want to access your Microsoft Entourage 2008 data, keep Entourage 2008 installed on your computer. You can have Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 and Office 2008 for Mac installed on the same computer. You can also have any Office for Mac 2011 application and Entourage 2008 open at the same time.

If you do not want to go back to using Entourage, you can upgrade to Office for Mac Home and Business 2011. You can then import your Entourage data into Outlook for Mac:

If you removed the previous version of Office for Mac (For example, 2008) but need access to Entourage, you must reinstall it back. If you only need to use Entourage, select Customize during installation. (See the steps later in this article.)

After you reinstall Entourage, you will have to set up your web-based email client to access your email.

Step 1: Custom installation: Installing Entourage only

  1. Insert the product DVD into the disc drive or, if you downloaded the product, double-click the Office 2008 icon.

Note If you downloaded the product, you must find your Order Confirmation email with the link to re-download Office 2008.

  6. Click Agree.
  7. Note your Office 2008 product ID, and then click Continue.
  8. In the dialog box that contains the following message, click Continue:

  10. Click Continue.
