Works Suite: Works Prompts You to Insert Microsoft Word 2000 Compact Disc

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to select a different Office Assistant in Microsoft Word 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Insert the 'Microsoft Word 2000' disk and click OK.
When you click OK, you receive the following error message:
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Microsoft Word 2000. The Windows installer cannot continue.
The Microsoft Works Suite 2000 package does not contain a Word 2000 CD-ROM.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Office Assistant gallery is not installed on your hard disk if you install Word 2000 when you install Works Suite.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, insert the Microsoft Works Suite Disc 1 CD-ROM, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

The contents of each CD-ROM in the Works Suite package are listed immediately below the disc number on each disc label, as well as below the cut-out in which each disc is stored in the Works Suite CD-ROM folder.

NOTE: If you have performed a complete installation of Word 2000 from the Microsoft Office 2000 CD-ROM set, the Office Assistant gallery is installed on your hard disk, and this issue does not occur.
