Summary

This article describes the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 issues that are fixed in the SharePoint Foundation 2010 hotfix package that is dated October 26, 2010.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you upgrade a content database by using the Upgrade-SPContentDatabase PowerShell command, you cannot perform a content database integrity check before you perform the upgrade. This issue occurs when the host header sites have managed paths. In this situation, the content database upgrade fails.

  • A query used frequently contains invalid query conditions and occupies lots of CPU resources in SharePoint Foundation 2010. In this instance, the query request times out on a SharePoint Foundation site.

  • A customized external binary large object (BLOB) storage provider (EBS provider) cannot work in SharePoint Foundation 2010. This issue occurs when you try to upload a file to a document library through the Windows Explorer or through the FrontPage remote procedure call (RPC). Additionally, the EBS provider crashes the W3wp.exe worker process.

  • You perform an incremental content deployment on a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site. During the export phase of the content deployment job, there are multiple procedures running on the Microsoft SQL server. In this situation, the export phase fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

    Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint.

  • This hotfix offers as a protection, a way to grant full trust permission to the core sandbox infrastructure assemblies that are signed by a Microsoft office key.

  • You perform a workflow timer job on a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 farm. The farm has many content databases that are attached to it. In this instance, all the content databases are polled until there are no remaining work items in any of the content databases. In addition, the configured settings are ignored.

  • You configure the number of application domains per process equal to the number of connections per process for a sandbox solution. In this situation, request per second (RPS) goes down.

Note If the number of application domains per process is configured one more than the number of connections per process, this issue does not occur.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You start a workflow on a custom list item in SharePoint Foundation 2010.

    • You add an attachment to the custom list item.

    • You save the SharePoint site as a template.

    • You try to create a new site by using the site template that you just saved.

In this scenario, creating the new site fails.

  • You create a message notification in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Then, you set the message notification status to off. In this situation, the message notification is still unexpectedly triggered.

  • An exception from the Business Data Catalog (BDC) cannot obtain a correlation ID in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Therefore, the exception cannot be correlated to an error message.

  • The scheduled password-change process fails when you try to use the Automatic password change feature for a SharePoint Foundation 2010 farm service account. This issue occurs when the service account is not a member of the local Administrators group in Windows.

  • Consider the following scenario. In a site collection, you create a document in a document library that has versioning control in SharePoint Foundation 2010. You edit the document and change the values in the lookup columns. Then, you import the data from this site collection to a new site collection that is created. In this scenario, the lookup column values that are associated with a certain version of the document are not retained in the newly created site collection.

  • You sign out a user from a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Server 2010 site. However, the cookies are not cleared correctly. Then, you sign in to a site that has a long URL by using a different user. In this situation, you receive the following error message:

    500 INTERNAL SERVER ERROR.

  • You perform an incremental content deployment for a SharePoint site. A deadlock occurs during the export phase. This issue is caused when there are lots of files being uploaded to the site.

  • When there is an apostrophe character (‘) in the email address of your user profile, a calendar cannot correctly display in a SharePoint site. Additionally, the appointments on the calendar are not displayed.

  • Consider the following scenario. You create a folder that contains documents and sub folders in a SharePoint document library. Then, you change the name of the folder one or more times. In this scenario, the values in the modified time feature for all the documents and sub folders that are located under the renamed folder are changed unexpectedly.

  • You use a third-party application to generate a .stp file. Then, you upload the file to a SharePoint document library. In this instance, an error occurs.

  • A SharePoint writer cannot be registered in Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Specifically, when there is more than one Web Front End (WFE) server and when the Search Service Application feature is enabled in the WFE servers.

  • You create a cross-list query that has a query scope covering more than 10 lists in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Additionally, the cross-list query contains a filter by content name type. In this situation, some items that match the query cannot be returned.

  • You click a combo box of a list item to try to display the Edit Control Block (ECB) menu in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Additionally, the ECB menu is located in a ListViewByQuery type custom web part. In this situation, the ECB menu does not appear and you receive the following error message:

This item is no longer available. It may have been deleted by another user. Click 'OK' to refresh the page.

Additionally, after you refresh the page, the ECB menu still cannot be displayed.

  • In SharePoint Foundation 2010, a tenant administrator has special permissions to control the Business Data Catalog (BDC) data when there are unrecoverable states. However, an anonymous user also has the permissions to control the BDC.

  • Consider the following cases in SharePoint Foundation 2010:

    • Custom list forms cannot resolve user names if the forms contain a parameter that is sourced by web part connections.

    • Lists that have the inline editing feature enabled cannot resolve user names if there are web part connections.

  • You create a custom view that contains a filter in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Additionally, the filter contains string parameters. Then, you try to perform an action on the ribbon. In this instance, all the commands in the ribbon are disabled.

  • The current date line is unavailable in the Gantt view in SharePoint Foundation 2010.

  • Consider the following scenario. You set the regional setting in German or Switzerland in SharePoint Foundation 2010. You add two columns in a custom list. You configure the two columns as an aggregated SUM and aggregated AVERAGE. Then, you add a value that is more than one thousand into the list. In this scenario, the thousand separator character apostrophe (‘) is displayed incorrectly as (').

  • In SharePoint Foundation 2010, the authentication restriction property does not work correctly in the following scenarios:

    • You try to filter out the controls that should be shown only to authenticated users.

    • You try to filter out the controls that should be shown only to anonymous users.

    • You try to filter out the controls that should be shown to everyone.

  • Consider the following scenario. You create a column in a custom list in SharePoint Foundation 2010. You configure the column validation feature for the column. Then, you add a list item that intentionally violates the restrictions in the column validation feature. You do this to receive a message for notification purposes. However, when you add a violation list item to the list, you do not receive the notification message. Instead, you receive the following error message:

    List data validation failed.

  • You try to determine whether an operation has to be throttled by using a query in SharePoint Foundation 2010. However, the query takes a long time to be completed.

  • You move a site collection from a content database to another content database by using the Move-SPSite command in SharePoint Foundation 2010. In this situation, the audit trail data for this site collection is not available in the new content database.

  • Consider the following scenario. You have a SharePoint Foundation 2010 server that is installed with multiple language packages. You create a site in a particular language. You change the site display language to another language. Then, you enable an out of the box (OOB) feature. In this scenario, the feature reactivation fails when you enable the feature again. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

A list, survey, discussion board, or document library with the specified title already exists in this Web site. Please choose another title.
