Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) to connect to a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS) database, a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012) database, or a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) database.

  • You click the Aggregations tab for a cube that uses a Teradata data source in the cube designer.

  • You use the Aggregation Design Wizard to design aggregations for a partition of a back-end Teradata table in the cube.

  • The length of the schema name for the Teradata table plus the length of the table name is at least 30 bytes.

  • In the Aggregation Design Wizard window, you click Count on the Specify Object Counts page.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

[Teradata Database] [3737] Name requires more than 30 bytes in LATIN internal form.

Cause

This issue occurs because the length of the auto-generated table alias for the count operation exceeds the 30-byte limit. When this limit is exceeded, the count operation cannot run.
