An IRM-protected email message is promoted to an email activity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 unexpectedly

SYMPTOMS

Assume that you send an Information Rights Management (IRM)-protected email message in Microsoft Dynamics CM 4.0. However, the IRM-protected email message is promoted to an email activity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM unexpectedly. Therefore, a user who does not have access to the IRM-protected content can view the IRM-protected email message.

RESOLUTION

An email message that is detected to be IRM protected is promoted to Microsoft Dynamics CRM as a blank email activity. Additionally, the original email message is attached to the email activity as an attachment.

Note The email message is promoted as a .msg attachment that must have the subject of the email message as a prefix. Without the subject, the .msg attachment is unrecognizable. Therefore, if the subject of the email message is blank, the attachment is not valid.
