After updating Forefront Server Security Management Console (FSSMC) to Hotfix Rollup 5 and updating Forefront Security for Exchange (FSE) Service Pack 2 to Rollup 2, or Forefront Security for SharePoint Service (FSSP) Pack 3 to Rollup 2, the Kaspersky engine will not update.
1.) In the Forefront Security for Exchange or Forefront Security for SharePoint programlog.txt, you may see the following error:
2.) The Kaspersky engine fails to update in Forefront Security for Exchange (FSE) or Forefront Security for SharePoint (FSSP)
ERROR: (0x00000002) The system cannot find the file specified. Failed to access: \\...\sybariredistribution$\x86\kaspersky5\xxxxxxx/x86/Kaspersky5/Package/manifest.cab
You can apply the following hotfix rollups for either Forefront Security for Exchange of Forefront Security for SharePoint.
FSE: KB 2420644
FSSP: KB 2422053
On the FSSMC server:
1. Navigate to the following file:
C:\program files\Microsoft Forefront Security\Server\Server Management\Services\Redistribution\cache\localenginemapping.cab
2. Rename localenginemapping.cab to localenginemapping.old
When the next new Kaspersky engine is pulled into FSSMC and distributed to the FSE server at the next scheduled update, the Kaspersky engine will successfully update.
Please note that the resulting successful Kaspersky update will provide the Kaspersky 5 engine version as opposed to the Kaspersky 8 version engine. This is a temporary solution and Microsoft is currently developing a hotfix for FSE that will allow users to update to Kaspersky 8 without issue.
