Microsoft Works 4.5a incorrectly installs the following OLE DB component Dynamic-Link Libraries (DLLs) into the Windows system folder (for example, C:\Winnt\System32) instead of the proper location. The following files should be placed in [Drive]\Program Files\Common Files\System\Ole Db\ folder:
CAUSE
This problem occurs only if you install the Microsoft Works Calendar 1.0 component that ships with Microsoft Works 4.5a.
RESOLUTION
To resolve the problem, install the newest version of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) after installing Microsoft Works. Re-installing Microsoft Data Access Components will copy the newer files to the OLE DB folder and re-register the components.
