Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a Web Setup project that has the RestartWWWService property set to FALSE in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.

  • You add another project in the Add Project Output Group dialog box, and then you click OK.

  • You build the Web Setup project.

    Note A package that contains the .msi package name extension is generated after you build the Web Setup project.

  • You install the package on a computer that is running Internet Information Service (IIS) 6.0.

In this scenario, the IIS service incorrectly stops and restarts during the installation.

Resolution
