Windows 2000 Terminal Services Does Not Support Outlook Offline Storage

SYMPTOMS

When you add a Microsoft Exchange server to a Microsoft Outlook profile, you are not prompted as to whether or not you travel with the computer. When you view or modify the properties for the Microsoft Exchange Server service, the Offline folder settings on the Advanced tab are not present.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Offline folders are not supported with Windows 2000 Terminal Services.

RESOLUTION

To add the Outlook Offline folder settings, uninstall the Terminal Services component in Windows 2000 by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
