After you turn on (enable) Terminal Services in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server, you may be unable to use any Microsoft Office programs. When you attempt to install any new component or use a component for the first time, you may receive the following error message:
Some default settings in Microsoft Office 2000 setup do not work properly on a Windows Terminal Server. To install Office on Terminal Server, you must use the instructions and tools available in your Office 2000 Resource Kit or at: http://www.microsoft.com/Office/ORK.
A terminal server must be in install mode before you can install a program. When you use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel to install a program, this automatically puts a terminal server in install mode.
CAUSE
You installed Terminal Services after you installed Microsoft Office 2000.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, you must remove and then reinstall Microsoft Office 2000 by using the Terminal Server Transform.
