Error message "A Word Story Editing error occurred" in Publisher 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you try to edit text in Microsoft Publisher by using the Edit Story in Microsoft Word command, you may receive the following error message:
PUBLISHER

A Word Story Editing error occurred.

Microsoft Word may be busy, or there may not be enough memory. Wait a moment for Microsoft Word to finish. If this doesn't correct the problem, try making more memory available by saving your work and closing other programs; then try again.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • Norton AntiVirus 2000 is installed on the computer.
  • The Norton AntiVirus Office plug-in is enabled.
NOTE: This behavior can also occur if not enough memory is installed in your computer.
