SYMPTOMS

When you save an Appointment activity periodically or immediately after you run the Internet Information Services (IIS) reset in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, you experience slow performance or a time-out occurs.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Microsoft Dynamics CRM scheduling engine is used when the Appointment activity is saved. The scheduling engine checks appointment conflicts between Microsoft Dynamics CRM resources. The scheduling engine uses a cache file that contains information about all Microsoft Dynamics CRM resources. However, the information is invalidated or expires periodically. If an organization has lots of resources, it takes a long time to rebuild the cache file when the Appointment activity is saved.

RESOLUTION

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
