Glyphs in an East Asian font do not rotate correctly in the vertical drawing on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based OS image

Consider the following scenario:

• You build a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based operating system (OS) design that includes the Monotype Imaging AC3 Font Compression component.
• You run an application to draw strings in an East Asian font on the generated OS image.

In this scenario, glyphs do not rotate correctly in the vertical drawing.

This issue occurs because of an error in a function of the AC3 font driver. When the lfEscapement flag of the font is not set to zero, the size of the current character is returned incorrectly.

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder Monthly Update (October 2010). You can confirm this by scrolling to the "File information" section. The package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. Prerequisites

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been applied.

Restart requirement

After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

• On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
• On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.

Update replacement information

This update does not replace any other updates.
