Site Server Setup Stops Responding on Windows 2000 after Opening Setup Documentation

SYMPTOMS

When you install Site Server 3.0 or Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition on a computer running Windows 2000, the Setup program stops responding if you open any of the documentation that is linked to from the Setup window.

Note: This only occurs on the original versions of Site Server 3.0 and Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition that were shipped on compact disc.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Site Server version 3.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To view the documentation when the Setup program stops responding, perform the following steps:
  1. Use the Task Manager to end the CD Browser application.
  2. Manually browse the corresponding file on the compact disc.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 4.
