When you attempt to add the File and Print Sharing service to your network configuration and the only components that are currently installed are a dial-up adapter and the TCP/IP protocol, you may receive the following error message after the file copy phase when you click Yes to restart your computer:
A Fatal Exception 0E has occurred at 0028:XXXXXXXX in VXD VSERVER(01) + XXXXXXXX. Current application will be terminated. * Press any key to terminate the current application. * Press Ctrl + Alt + Del again to restart your computer. You will lose any unsaved information in all applications.

Press any key to continue.

To work around this problem, use the following steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.
  2. Click Add, click Client, click Add, click Microsoft, click Client for Microsoft Networks, and then click OK.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen, and restart your computer when prompted.
After these steps are completed, you should be able to install the File and Print Sharing service.
