SYMPTOMS

When you use the Outlook View control, Teams Folders or a Digital Dashboard, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Invalid Page Fault in Outllib.dll
-or-
Access violation in Outllib.dll.

CAUSE

There is a conflict with the Outlook View control and a custom Microsoft Exchange client extension.

RESOLUTION

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a. To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To temporarily work around this problem, disable any custom Exchange client extensions.
  1. Start Outlook.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
  4. Click Add-in Manager, and then click to clear any custom Exchange client extensions.
  5. Click OK three times, and then restart Outlook.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The client extension function
IExchExtCallback::GetSelectionItem()
will generate an access violation in Outllib.dll if the Entry-ID parameter (third parameter) is specified to be non-NULL. For this reason, if the Outlook View control is placed on any Folder Home Page, it is not possible to use a custom Exchange client extension which implements the above referenced function.
