WD2000: Orientation Changes When Printing Multiple Pages per Sheet

When you attempt to print multiple pages on a single letter-size sheet, the file is sometimes printed in landscape orientation and sometimes in portrait orientation. This behavior depends on the Pages Per Sheet setting.

For example, if you attempt to print four pages per letter-size sheet, the page is printed in portrait orientation. If you attempt to print six pages per letter-size sheet, the page is printed in landscape orientation.

Word automatically changes the page orientation to accommodate the number of pages you want to print per sheet.

If your document has only four pages and you want to print these four pages on a single letter-sized sheet in landscape orientation, add two blank pages to your document before you print it. To do this, go to the end of the file (press CTRL+END) and then press CTRL+ENTER two times.

NOTE: If you try to control the page orientation from the Paper Size tab in the Page Setup dialog box (on the File menu, click Page Setup) to work around this behavior, Word instructs the printer to load a custom page, and you may be prompted to manually feed the paper.

Word 2000 includes a Zoom feature that allows you to print multiple pages per a single sheet by scaling your pages to fit on the page. To locate these options, click Print on the File menu. The following table describes these Zoom settings.
