FIX: An Internet Explorer window that is under a topmost window may display incorrectly after you move the scrollbar on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

You open a topmost window over a Windows Internet Explorer window on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device. For example, you open a Soft Input Panel (SIP).
You move the scrollbar on the Internet Explorer window.
Internet Explorer finishes rendering the window.

In this scenario, the Internet Explorer window may display incorrectly. For example, you may encounter one of the following issues:

A rendering artifact appears in the previous location of the topmost window. Then, the rendering artifact disappears.
A rendering artifact is displayed on the Internet Explorer window and does not disappear.

Note The rendering artifact can be a black rectangle or a bitmap that was displayed previously.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the background update for the topmost window is missed when the system is optimized for view scrolling.

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder Monthly Update (February, 2011). You can confirm this by scrolling to the "File information" section of this article. The package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. The package file name format is:

Product version-yymmdd-kbnnnnnn-processor type

For example: Wincepb50-060503-kb917590-armv4i.msi is the ARMV4i Windows Embedded CE 5.0 Platform Builder fix that is documented in KB article 917590 and that is contained in the May 2006 monthly update. Prerequisites

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been applied.

Restart requirement

After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
