FP2000: How to Create a Hyperlink to a File That Is Not an HTML Document

This article describes how to create a hyperlink to a file that is not an HTML document.

To create a hyperlink to a file type that is not HTML, use the same process that you use to create a hyperlink to an HTML document. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Import the file into the current Web.
2. In Page view, type the text that you want to use as a hyperlink, and select the text.
3. On the Insert menu, click Hyperlink.
4. Move to the file that you want to link to, and click it.
5. Click OK.
   NOTE: Some file types require that the browser have a plug-in on the local computer to view the file. For these files, it is generally recommended that you add a second hyperlink that takes the browser to a location to download the plug-in. Position this hyperlink close to the hyperlink to the file. This is most common with Adobe Acrobat files.
