SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0:
  • An organizer creates an appointment in Microsoft Outlook and then tracks the appointment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • The appointment exists in the Outlook calendar for both the organizer and the attendee of the appointment.
  • Then, the organizer untracks the appointment to cancel the appointment in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
In this scenario, the appointment exists in the Outlook calendar of the organizer. However, the appointment is deleted unexpectedly in the Outlook calendar of the attendee.

RESOLUTION

This problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.

To enable this hotfix on a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook with Offline Access, follow these steps:
  1. Under the
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRMClient\
    registry subkey on the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Outlook, add the following DWORD registry entry:
    • DoNotDeleteOutlookAppointments
  2. Configure the value of the registry entry that you just added to 1.
Note If you want to disable this hotfix, set the value of the registry entry to 0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
