Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a report service project, and then you add a report in Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) for SQL Server 2008 R2.

  • You add a table that contains groups into the report.

  • You use the visibility toggle feature in the report.

Note The visibility toggle feature uses some parameters in an expression to control the visibility of the group headers.

  • You export the report to an Excel workbook.

In this scenario, the Excel workbook contains automatic subtotals that should not be present, based on the visibility toggle feature that you use.

Cause

This issue occurs because of an error in the Excel renderer in SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services.
