Known issues with this security update

  • When you open presentations that contain layouts that have background images in Microsoft PowerPoint 2002, an error may occur. When the error occurs, you receive a message that states that some contents (text, images, or objects) are corrupted. You can determine what content was lost by viewing the layout. But you cannot determine what content was lost by viewing the slide content. Items that were removed are displayed with a blank box or with a box that contains "cleansed."

  • After you install this security update, you may have to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms when you start a Microsoft Office XP program. If you do not accept the Microsoft Software License Terms, the Office XP program may not start.

To install this security update, you must have Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed on the computer.

Removal information

To remove this security update, use the Add or Remove Programs item or use the Programs and Features item in Control Panel.

Note When you remove this security update, you may be prompted to insert the disc that contains PowerPoint 2002. Additionally, you may not have the option to uninstall this security update from the Add or Remove Programs item or the Programs and Features item in Control Panel. There are several possible causes of this issue.
