Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 v3 on a computer.

  • You design a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services (SSIS 2008) or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services R2 (SSIS 2008 R2) package that imports data from the instance of Microsoft SQL Server to DB2.

  • In the SSIS package, you use OLE DB Provider for DB2 in the OLE DB destination task and then set the Defer Prepare property to True in the connection string.

  • You select a FastLoad option in the OLE DB destination task.

  • You try to execute the package on the computer to move data from the instance of SQL Server to DB2.

In this scenario, you cannot execue the package. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Error: 0xC0202009 at Fast 1, OLE DB Destination [315]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E14.

An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft DB2 OLE DB Provider"

Hresult: 0x80040E14 Description: "An internal network library error has occurred. A network level syntax error has occurred. SQLSTATE: HY000,

SQLCODE: -379".

Error: 0xC0047022 at Fast 1, SSIS.Pipeline: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED. The ProcessInput method on component "OLE DB Destination" (315) failed with error code 0xC0202009 while processing input "OLE DB Destination Input" (328). The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Defer Prepare property prevents the Prepare function from being called on a statement to be executed when the FastLoad interface is involved in the OLE DB Provider for DB2 v3.
