"Always Show Internet Explorer Radio Bar" Option May Be Removed After You Uninstall Internet Explorer 5.01

SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 5.01 back to Internet Explorer 5, the Always show Internet Explorer Radio bar option may be missing from the Internet Explorer advanced property sheet.

CAUSE

When you uninstall Internet Explorer 5.01, the following registry key and its subkeys may be removed:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\AdvancedOptions\Multimedia\Radio

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior (and re-create the missing registry entries), reinstall Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.4. To obtain the latest version of Windows Media Player, go to the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/ (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
