Works Err Msg: Wkswp Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module Kernel32.dll

When you try to create a new document, open a document that exists, or print a document from Microsoft Works Word Processor, you may receive the following error message:

This issue can occur if the printer driver installed on your computer is damaged or outdated. Or, Adobe Acrobat PDF Writer is installed on your system.

To resolve this issue, obtain the latest printer driver for your printer from your printer manufacturer. Typically, you can obtain the latest printer driver from the printer manufacturer's Web site.

NOTE: Microsoft recommends that you look for updated printer drivers at your printer manufacturer's Web site on a regular basis. Printer manufacturers typically release new drivers for their printers every six months.

To work around this issue, use a different default printer driver than your current default printer driver when you run Works. To do this:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
2. Double-click Add Printer, and then click Next.
3. Click Local printer, and then click Next.
4. In the Manufacturers box, click the name of a manufacturer that makes a printer with features similar to your printer.
5. In the Printers box, click the name of a model with features similar to your printer.
6. Click Next.
7. In the Available ports box, click the port your printer is connected to, and then click Next.
8. Under Do you want your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default printer, click Yes, and then click Next.
   
   NOTE: By selecting the new printer driver as your default printer driver, you may experience printing issues when you try to print from other programs.
9. When you are prompted to print a test page, click Yes (recommended), and then click Finish.
10. When the test page completes printing, click Yes.
11. Close the Printers window.

Remove the Adobe Acrobat PDF Writer

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
2. Right-click Adobe Acrobat PDF Writer, and then click Delete.
