There's an issue with the Zune software settings or your personal digital certificate.
Your personal digital certificate is your Windows Phone 7's unique identifier, and is used to sync with the Zune software. The certificate also provides secure communication between your computer and your phone.

Verify your USB Connection
Collapse this imageExpand this image
Make sure your phone has a good connection to your computer. Possible causes of a bad connection can include:
- You are not using the correct USB data sync cable, such the one that came with the phone. Some phones are also supplied with optional "charging" cables that cannot be used to establish a data connection with a computer. Try another cable, if possible.
- There is dust or debris in the USB port on the phone. Try using a can of compressed air to clear the USB port on the phone to ensure a good connection.
- The computer's USB port is bad. Try connecting to another port directly on the computer (don't use a USB hub).
If you have checked the USB port, try the steps below to trust the current certificate, create a new certificate, or reinstall the Zune software. (These can be done in any order.)

You may also have a cryptographic program that is blocking the installation of the personal certificate. One of these programs,
Instalable modulo criptografico DNIe is typically used in Spain. If you have this program installed, follow these steps:
- Uninstall the cryptographic program.
- Connect your Windows Phone to your computer. This creates the certificate needed.
- Reinstall the cryptographic program.
