SUMMARY

This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 hotfix package that is dated February 22, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create several sub sites hierarchies under a publishing site home page in Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010.
    • A top navigation menu appears.
    • You enable a second level fly-out menu if you change the MaximumDynamicDisplayLevels="2" parameter in the v4.master file in SharePoint Designer.
    • You view the home page, and then you navigate between different submenus in the top navigation bar.

In this scenario, the submenus are overlapping for a short time.
  • You enable the email message access feature for a document library in SharePoint Foundation 2010. However, you cannot save attachments from an email message that is forwarded from a Mac Mail client to the document library.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You set up Microsoft SQL Server mirroring for a SharePoint Server 2010 database.
    • You apply the hotfix package that is described in Knowledge Base (KB) article 2266423.
    • You run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard (Psconfig.exe).

In this scenario, the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard does not complete. Additionally, you receive the following error message in the upgrade log:

    Exception: Keyword not supported: 'failoverpartner'.

  • You run the stsadm -o enumallwebs -includefeatures command in SharePoint Foundation 2010. In this situation, the XML output file includes web scoped features. However, it does not include site collection scoped features.
  • When you use an existing name to create a site collection in SharePoint Foundation 2010, you receive the following non-descriptive error message:
    An unexpected error has occurred.
  • You set the Sites language or the Multilingual User Interface (MUI) language to a language locale other than English in SharePoint Online. However, the claims providers still display English names.
  • You configure a document library or you configure a list to receive email messages in Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010. However, the list or the document library is unavailable when an email message is sent to the list or the document library. In this situation, an incoming email timer job deletes the email message even if the email message is not successfully delivered.
  • Consider the following scenario
    • You create a recurring event in a calendar list in a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site.
    • You save the site that includes the site contents as a template.
    • You create a new site by using that template.

In this scenario, the calendar list does not display the recurring event in the new site.

Note This issue does not occur when you create a non-recurring event in the calendar list.
  • Assume you create a unique column in the People and Groups list on a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site. However, when you restore the site, you cannot add or update site collection administrators in the site.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You click Variation link to configure the variation setting in a SharePoint Server 2010 publishing site.
    • You click the Variation Labels link, and create two variation labels.
    • You click the Create Hierarchies link to create hierarchies.

Note The hierarchies are created based on the Variations Create Hierarchies Job Definition service in the Central Administration page. Therefore, two variation sites are created from the previous steps.
    • You create a content deployment, and then you deploy the hierarchy to the destination web application.
    • You create a new publishing page in the source variation site, and then you add the list view web part of the document library.
    • You publish the new publishing page, and then you wait until the page propagation finishes.
    • You deploy the content again.

In this scenario, the content deployment fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Content deployment job 'Remote import job for job with sourceID = ID' failed. Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.AllWebParts' with unique index 'AllWebParts_IdNCI'.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You deploy and then activate a solution that restricts certain web templates to users in a SharePoint 2010 site.
    • You select the Meeting Request option in Office Outlook 2007 to create a meeting.
    • You configure the Meeting Workspace setting to connect to the SharePoint site.
    • You try to select a template from the meeting web templates list.

In this scenario, the meeting web templates list displays all the web templates including the web templates that are restricted.
  • You call the SiteData.GetChanges web service in SharePoint Foundation 2010 by using Visual Studio 2010. Then, you set the parameters of startChangeId and endChangeId in the GetChanges method. In this situation, the web service does not return the expected results. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Soap:Server Exception of Type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.

  • Assume that you have a discussion board that includes lots of messages in SharePoint Server 2010. The messages contain a long text body. You perform a full crawl or an incremental crawl in SharePoint Server 2010. In this situation, the discussion board is not crawled. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

    SOAP exception: System.OutOfMemoryException.

  • Assume that you have a server that is running Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. You open SharePoint 2010 Central Administration, and then you click the View these issues link. In this situation, there is a warning message from the SharePoint 2010 Tracing (SPTraceV4) service:

Built-in accounts are used as application pool or service identities.

  • A resource usage is not logged or calculated correctly for a solution that causes the worker process (W3wp.exe) crash in SharePoint Server 2010.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a host-named site collection in SharePoint Foundation 2010.
    • You configure Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for the host-name site collection.
    • You reset Internet Information Services.
    • You view the site collection by using a SSL-based URL.

In this scenario, the URL in the browser’s address bar is changed to a HTTP-based URL.

Note This issue does not occur until you reset Internet Information Services again after the first incorrect URL displays in the browser’s address bar.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a custom list in a SharePoint Server 2010 site.
    • You create a workflow for the custom list by using SharePoint Design 2010. The workflow contains at least eight approval task actions.
    • You try to publish the workflow.

In this scenario, the workflow cannot be published. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.
Note The update introduces configuration options to manage this issue.
  • You invoke the GetListItems method of the Lists.asmx web service in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Then, you set an empty xmlns="" attribute as the first attribute in the <ViewAttributs> element. In this situation, you receive a SOAP error.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a site collection in SharePoint Foundation 2010.
    • You use a meeting workspace template to create a meeting workspace site in the site collection.
    • You create at least two events in the root site calendar, and then you link the events to the new meeting workspace site.
    • You click the events in the quick launch bar in the meeting workspace site to try to switch the events.

In this scenario, the events cannot be switched. Additionally, you receive a JavaScript error. Additionally, the Change view order ribbon button becomes greyed out for the list views.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create an item validation formula to a list in a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site.
    • You save the site as a template.
    • You create a new site by using the template.
    • You add a new item or you update an existing item to the list that uses the validation formula in the new site.

In this scenario, you may experience one of the following:
    • You may successfully add or successfully update the item in the list.
    • You may receive the following error message:
The validation formula has evaluated to an error.
    • You may be redirected to the error page that displays the following generic error message:
      An error has occurred.
  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 performs an additional crawl search for a site collection when you move the SharePoint site collection from one content database to another.
  • Assume that you perform a database attach upgrade from Office SharePoint Server 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010. You access a SharePoint 2010 site that contains a Links List Web Part. Then, you view the links in the SharePoint site by using the default view. In this situation, the Link List Web Part displays More Links… at the bottom of the web part even if there are no more links.
  • Consider the following scenario. You have a Discussion Web Part that contains several discussions in a SharePoint 2007 site. Then, you update Office SharePoint Server 2007 to SharePoint Server 2010. In this scenario, the Discussion Web Part does not function correctly. Additionally, when you click an item in the Discussion Web Part in the SharePoint Server 2010 site, the item does not display the entry as expected.
  • You create a column in an existing custom list in a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site. When you select the Person or Group option in the Name and Type section, the Enforce unique values option is not included in the Additional Column Settings section as expected.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a claims-based web application in SharePoint Server 2010.
    • You create a site collection under the claims-based web application.
    • You create an email-enabled security group in Active Directory directory service.
    • You add the email-enabled security group to site permissions in the site collection.
    • You try to add the security group to a notification alert.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
The following users do not have e-mail addresses specified: <domain\GroupName>.
  • You cannot add domain group to site collection administrators in a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a discussion board in SharePoint Server 2010.
    • You enable the ratings feature in the discussion board by clicking the Rating Settings link.
    • You configure the Flat view of the discussion board to display the Ratings(0-5) column.

In this scenario, the Flat view and the Threaded view do not display the image of the Ratings(0-5) column correctly.
  • You edit an item in a list or in a document library in SharePoint Foundation 2010. Then, you delete the item immediately and perform a search crawl. However, the search crawl does not retrieve the item in the list or in the document library. In this situation, you receive a SOAP error that causes the search crawl to crawl again. This behavior also causes lots of load on a SharePoint server.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a list by using the survey template in SharePoint Server 2010.
    • You add several questions to the survey.
    • You use the Graphical Summary view in the survey list to display the results of the survey.

In the scenario, Content Type is displayed as the answer for the last question in the survey list.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have an existing site collection in SharePoint Foundation 2010.
    • You create a custom list in the site collection, and then you enable versioning control.
    • You create an item with non-empty metadata in the custom list.
    • You edit the item, and then save the item. This behavior creates a new version of the item.
    • You query the value of the DiskUsed column that corresponds to the site collection in the Sites table in a SQL server.

In this scenario, the value of the DiskUsed column is not increased correctly.
  • When you try to upgrade earlier version of SharePoint to SharePoint Foundation 2010, you receive the following error message:
WebPart class <Guid> (Class Name) is referenced [number] times in the database [DBName], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this web part.
This issue occurs when you develop a web part as a solution package to an earlier version SharePoint server.
  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 cannot send email notifications when you set up an alert in a SharePoint Foundation 2010 site. This issue occurs because the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server requires a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the SharePoint server. However, the SharePoint mechanism uses the NetBIOS name of the SharePoint server instead of the FQDN.
  • You deploy content that triggers the automatic link fixup process in SharePoint Foundation 2010. However, when the server is under heavy load, the content deployment fails with a SQL deadlock error. Additionally, the SharePoint sites that are included in the content deployment cannot be accessed.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a page in a site collection in SharePoint Foundation 2010 without publishing it.
    • You configure the unpublished page in the navigation panel under the root site of the site collection.
    • You configure the content database of SharePoint Foundation 2010 as read-only mode in a SQL server.
    • You try to access the root site.

In this scenario, you cannot access the root site. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
    Access Denied.
  • 2505501 OneNote 2010 clients may be unable to synchronize with a SharePoint Foundation 2010 server that is under heavy load
To resolve the following issues, you must apply the hotfix package that is described in kb article 2479795 together with this hotfix package:
  • 2494097 A site collection is missing from the search results if it is moved from one content database to another content database in SharePoint Foundation 2010
  • 2464408 Incorrect data is returned when you perform a search on a managed property that was created automatically for a number type column in SharePoint Foundation 2010
  • 2496287 A query that contains an Order By clause does not return all results when you issue the query on a managed property in SharePoint Server 2010 or Search Server 2010
