An update that addresses a performance issue is available for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3 (January 2011)

Some ports on a Windows Embedded CE 6.0-based device can accept specific data packets. For example, the 9204 User Datagram Protocol (UDP) port in some devices accepts a vCard's information. In some scenarios, this configuration may result in performance issues if the Wi-Fi function of the device is enabled. 
 
An update that addresses this performance issue is available for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3. The update closes the ports that can receive these kinds of packets.

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Platform Builder Monthly Update (January, 2011). You can confirm this by scrolling to the "File information" section of this article. The package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. Prerequisites

This software update is supported only if all previously issued software updates for this product have also been applied.

Restart requirement

After you install this software update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

• On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
• On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.

This update does not replace any other updates.
