SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • Microsoft Office Communications Server-based Live Meeting and Live Meeting Service-based Live Meeting are both installed in the same environment.
  • You click the Schedule a Live Meeting command or the Meet Now command to create a Live Meeting by using the Office Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in for Office Outlook.
In this scenario, the Office Communications Server submenu and the Live Meeting Service submenu are both located under the Schedule a Live Meeting command, or the Meet Now command. This behavior may confuse users.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:

Description of the update for the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in for Outlook: May 2011
After you apply this update, you can customize the following commands:
  • The tooltips of the Schedule a Live Meeting  command, and the Meet Now command.
  • Both the names and the tooltips of the submenus that are located under the Schedule a Live Meeting command, and the Meet Now command.
  • The order of the submenus that are located under the Schedule a Live Meeting command, and the Meet Now command.
To customize the commands, follow these steps:
  1. Install this update.
  2. Create a XML file that is named "LMAddinC.XML".
  3. Customize the content based on the default XML file. For example, you can set the following values to customize the names and the tooltips in the English version of the Live Meeting Conferencing Add-in for Outlook:

    To customize the tooltips of the Meet Now command, set the value of MeetNowTooltip. To customize the names and the tooltips of the submenus that are located under the the Meet Now command, set the values of OnPremSubMenu, OnPremSubMenuTooltip, ServiceSubMenu and ServiceSubMenuTooltip.
  4. Copy the XML file to the following path:
    <Drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Live Meeting 8\Addins\
  5. Restart Outlook.
Notes 
  • If you set order="0", the submenu order shows Live Meeting Service first, and then Office Communications Server. If you set order="1", the submenu order shows Office Communications Server first, and then Live Meeting Service.
  • You must verify the XML file. If the XML file format is incorrect, or contains an error, the XML file cannot be loaded. Therefore, this issue cannot be resolved.
