Summary

This article describes the 2007 Microsoft Office system issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated February 22, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You install two Rights Management Services (RMS) servers in different forests to manage permissions for 2007 Microsoft Office documents.
    • You log on to a computer in one forest, and then you download a temporary Rights Account Certificate (RAC) from the RMS server in another forest. The RAC is required to open Office documents.
    • You set the RMS server to be offline in the first forest.
    • You try to open an Office document by using the temporary RAC in one of the 2007 Office programs.

In this scenario, you cannot open the Office document. Additionally, you receive an error message that the RMS server in the first forest is offline.

Note After you install the hotfix package, you have to enable the registry key by following the steps that are described in "Registry information" section.

  • Assume that you set up a Windows Server 2008 R2-based RMS server to manage permissions for 2007 Office documents. You use the revocation feature on the RMS server. Then, you try to open a 2007 Office document that was revoked on a client computer. In this situation, you receive the following error message:

Unexpected error occurred. Please try again later or contact your system administrator.
However, the error message is not meaningful to users.
  • Consider the following scenario. You access a 2007 Office document that is located in a SharePoint document library. You put your computer into standby. Then, you resume the computer from standby. In this scenario, the document changes to read-only mode. Additionally, you have to save the document manually.

Note To fully address this issue, a hotfix for Word starting with "Office Word 2007 hotfix package (Word-x-none.msp, Wordconv-x-none.msp): February 23, 2010" (hotfix 978398) or later should be applied to affected computers in addition to this Office hotfix. Furthermore, both hotfixes use a registry key named NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds, which is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) articles 2434898 and 979367, and is located in the following registry subkeys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\Internet

Both of these keys should be set with the appropriate values.
  • When you open a workbook that contains one or more TreeView controls in Excel 2007, the TreeView controls cannot be loaded. Additionally, a red X is displayed instead the TreeView controls.

Note The issues mentioned above only occur after you apply the hotfix package that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 982308.

  • The line thickness in an Enhanced Meta File (EMF) image is changed after you edit the EMF image in an Office Word 2007 document.
