Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package (Sts-x-none.msp): February 22, 2011

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

• Consider the following scenario:

  • You create a site column in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
  • You create a site content type, and then you add the site column to the site content type.
  • You set the site content type as the default content type in an existing document library.
  • You create a Data View Web Part by using SharePoint Designer, and then you enable editing items in the Data View Web Part.
  • You try to edit an item by using the Data View Web Part in the document library.

  
  In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

  System.ArgumentException was unhandled 
  Message="Column '<column name>' does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user. /dvwp" 
  Source="Microsoft.SharePoint"

• Lots of proc_SecRefreshToken stored procedures are invoked to update the UserInfo table in an Internet-facing SharePoint Server 2007 site. However, most of the updates are not needed. In this situation, the SharePoint server has a decrease in performance.
  
• You configure the service account, and then you configure the content access account in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Search service by using domain users. However, the NetBIOS name of the domain contains an ampersand (&) character. Then, you perform a crawl in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. In this situation, you receive the following error message:
  Error in the Site Data Web Service
  Additionally, Event ID 2436 and Event ID 2424 are logged in the event log.
  
• You perform a content deployment that triggers the automatic link fixup process in Office SharePoint Server 2007. However, when the server is under heavy load, the content deployment fails with a SQL deadlock error. Additionally, the SharePoint sites that are included in the content deployment cannot be accessed.
  
• Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a Multiple lines of text column in a list in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
  • You add some text to the Multiple lines of text column in an existing item in the list. 
  • You use the SOAP service to obtain the list data. 
  
  In this scenario, the GetListLitems SOAP method converts all the carriage returns into spaces in the Multiple lines of text column.
  
• You configure a list or you configure a document library to receive email messages in Windows SharePoint Services 3.0. However, when an email message is sent, the list or the document library is unavailable. In this situation, an incoming email timer job deletes the email message even if the email message is not successfully delivered.
  
• Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable the Link to a Document feature in an Office SharePoint Server 2007 document library.
  • You create a folder by using a name that contains a plus (+) character in the document library.
  • You access the folder in the document library.
  • You click the Link to a Document option to create a link to a document.
  
  In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
  
  Cannot complete this action. Please try again.
• Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a site column by using a name that contains a question mark (?) character in an Office SharePoint Server 2007 site.
  • You create a site content type, and then add the site column to the site content type.
  • You add the site content type to a document library in the SharePoint 2007 site.
  • You upload a document to the document library.
  • You make some changes in the site content type that contains the site column in the EditForm.aspx page.
  
  In this scenario, the data that you changed previously in the site content type are lost.
  
• Consider the following scenario:
  • You deploy content from a source site to a destination site in Office SharePoint Server 2007.
  • You access a document library without making any changes in the destination site.
  • You click View all site content in the destination site.
  
  In this scenario, the value in the Last Modified column in the All Site Content page is changed to the current date, or to the current time.
