GPF Customizing the Start Menu Using Taskbar Properties

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to remove a Start Menu folder by using the Taskbar Properties dialog box, you may receive a Dr. Watson error message:
An Application error has occurred and an application error log is being produced.

Explorer.exe
Exception access violation (0xc0000005), Address 0x715a5f94"

CAUSE

This issue can occur because of a compatibility issue with programs that use a GetDispInfo callback routine and the Accessibility Aids portion of Internet Explorer 5.01.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Internet Explorer version 5.01. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Internet Explorer version 5.01 Service Pack 1.
