Publisher 2000 Error Message: Publisher Cannot Continue Printing Because of an Error

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to print a publication from Microsoft Publisher 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Publisher cannot continue printing because of an error. For more information, press F1 now.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the name of the printer is longer than 62 characters.

NOTE: If the name of the printer is longer than 185 characters, Publisher quits unexpectedly when you click Exit Catalog.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
