PUB2000: Access Violation When You Paste an Image into a Publication

When you paste a Device Independent Bitmap (DIB) image into a Microsoft Publisher 2000 publication while a table in the publication is selected, you receive the following error message: When you click OK or Cancel, Publisher quits.

This behavior occurs because Publisher 2000 can only receive data from the Microsoft Windows clipboard in Rich Text format while a table in the publication is selected.

A DIB image is a binary file that Publisher 2000 cannot receive from the Windows clipboard while a table is selected.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To work around this issue, make sure that a table is not selected when you paste a DIB image into Publisher 2000.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
